St. Joseph's Outpatient
Rehabilitation Program offers therapy services to the
community such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech
therapy, and social services. We provide services to
individuals ranging in age from infants to children, to adolescents
to the elderly . We have therapists who specialize in working
with individuals with neurological diagnoses and orthopedic
injuries. Many of our therapists are dedicated to working
specifically with children. Our staff provides therapy

Outpatient Rehabilitation:
St. Joseph's Outpatient Rehabilitation
provides services to individuals in age groups that include infants
through adults. We have Clinicians that specialize in a
variety of areas of treatment that includes:

- Spinal Cord Injury and related

Special Programs:
The Outpatient Rehabilitation Department at
St. Joseph's offers interdisciplinary team-driven care through
specialized programs that are accredited by the Commission for the
Accreditation Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). These programs for
Pediatric- Family Centered care, Spinal Cord Injury care, and Adult
Neurological Rehabilitation offer a coordinated approach to the
management of rehab interventions that are designed to assist
patients and families in achieving return to life goals after an
acute neurological condition.

Adult Neurological
Program
The St. Joseph's/Barrow Outpatient
Rehabilitation Adult Neurological Program is accredited by the
Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. The
Program utilizes an integrated approach to rehabilitation and life
reintegration. The approach features team/patient driven
goals supplemented by family conferences, physician rounds, weekly
interdisciplinary team conferences, and individualized treatment
planning. Specific admission criteria are utilized to
identify patients appropriate for this type of program.

Neurological Program for consideration
- 33 patients were accepted into the
Program
- The remaining 79 patients continued
treatment in our facility with an interdisciplinary team
approach.

Pediatric Rehabilitation:
Pediatric Family Centered Program
The Outpatient Pediatric Rehabilitation
Program provides a medically sound, child centered, and family
friendly rehabilitation experience for children ages birth to
eighteen years of age. The program utilizes Therapists who
provide age appropriate evaluations and treatment plans for the
family. We are committed to coordinating medical and
community resources to achieve functional outcomes that are defined
with the child & family as the center of the
rehabilitation team. This program is designed to provide short-term
therapy after the onset of an acute condition that will maximize
each child's functional potential and assist with returning to
home, school and age-appropriate functional activities.

Vestibular Rehabilitation
We offer specialized treatments for vestibular dysfunction and
balance problems by a Physical Therapist who is certified in
vestibular rehabilitation. The SMART Balance Master, a computerized
device that aids in the diagnosis and treatment of vestibular and
balance dysfunction, is utilized for these patients to ensure
optimal identification of problems and improvements. Vestibular
rehabilitation involves treating patients with various diagnoses
including, but not limited to, unilateral vestibular loss,
vestibular concussion/trauma, vestibular neuritis, labyrinthitis,
bilateral vestibular loss (vestibulo-toxic medications, auto-immune
causes), benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), traumatic
brain injury, and gait imbalance and dizziness of both central and
peripheral origins.
Orthopedic and Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation
St. Joseph's Outpatient Rehabilitation offers various treatments
for multiple orthopedic-related diagnoses. Physical
Therapists with extensive training and specialized credentials in
Orthopedics and related fields provide evaluation and treatment for
a multitude of conditions. Common diagnoses include, but are not
limited to: neck and back pain; overuse injuries (tendonitis,
plantar fascitis, carpal tunnel syndrome); TemporoMandibular
Disorder (TMJ); post-surgical procedures (spinal fusions, total
knee replacements, total hip replacements, rotator cuff
reconstruction/repairs, ACL reconstruction, tendon repairs, tendon
reconstructions, laminectomy/discectomy, hand surgeries); and joint
sprains and strains.
Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation:
The St. Joseph's Hospital/ Barrow Spinal Cord
Injury Wellness Program, is an Outpatient component to the CARF
accredited Spinal Cord Injury Continuum of Care, that provides
comprehensive follow-up services to persons with spinal cord injury
and other related disabilities throughout the lifespan. These
services can include outpatient therapy services, education
activities, case management, and the Wellness Clinic. Diagnoses of
those served include traumatic spinal cord injury, non-traumatic
spinal cord injury, and congenital spinal cord disorders.
Our Team members have years of expertise
working with the SCI population in acute and outpatient
rehabilitation and within the disability community. This
broad knowledge base assures the individualization of each
treatment plan so that client goals can be achieved as efficiently
as possible
SCI Wellness
Clinic:
A special component of the Spinal Cord Injury
Continuum of Care is the Wellness Clinic. This is an outpatient
clinical experience that focuses on the assessment of persons with
spinal cord injury for ongoing medical and rehabilitation needs
across the lifespan. The Clinic components include assessment of
function, spasticity management, exercise programs, seating and
positioning evaluations, adaptive equipment recommendations, pain
management, mobility training, sexuality and fertility resources,
skin integrity management, self-care assessment, driving/vehicle
recommendations, assessment for home modifications, and
leisure/recreational resources
